While not at all a novel concept, and actually a common idea, Google Analytics Opt-out for Chrome could actually make your life easier. You see, Google Analytics offers a very useful set of features that would be a bane to one’s life, if not for the company’s powerful tools.
For starters, you can sort your data based on the amount of time you spent on a website and the type of browser you are using. Think about it, even if you don’t want Google to use that information to help marketers, you are probably still interested in finding out which websites take your time, and how long you are spending there, right?
You can also create segments using what you find valuable about the website you visited. For instance, you might have interest in seeing how many types of visitors come to your website, from whom, and what keywords they use to reach it.
And of course, you can always restrict the use of your data to the addresses in a specific set of countries.

Great idea, but what happens if a user loads a page in one of the google/yahoo/bing/yahoo search engines? GA’s data still is sent since the browser will not access the real site.
Google Analytics Opt-out by Webzap for Firefox is a neat add-on for all the major browsers. Easy to use, and very helpful.
I would suggest changing the name of the add-on as it is not «opt-out» it is «opt-in».
